MY STORY

Kyle's journey in New York City began in November of 2013 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in the heart of the Upper East Side. Working in clinical research, he was part of a team focused on new cancer immunotherapies. After a year of research, he looked to emergency medicine for a more hands-on experience. This opened him up to an entirely new side of the industry where his interest in orthopedics grew exponentially.

While continuing to work within health services, Kyle expanded his knowledge base outside of his work environment as an active member of the NYC fitness community. With a pre-medicine degree from James Madison University, a passion for human performance and newly learned physical disciplines through overcoming a debilitating knee injury, this collective experience molded him into the ultimate fitness mad scientist. Real world movement problems fueled his passion and a new dimension of fitness on the rise became his first phase of experimentation - Crossfit. Organic Chemistry and Molecular Biology textbooks were pushed to the back of the shelf and replaced with Kelly Starrett's Becoming A Supple Leopard and Power Speed Endurance by Brian MacKenzie. A nonchalant fitness regimen soon became a lifestyle dedicated to health in all aspects. This also lead to his first real work experience in the fitness industry as a group fitness instructor at one of Manhattan's boutique studios.

With two years in the health sector, Kyle was eager to further his journey of personal growth in medicine. Inspired by his personal experiences in injury rehabilitation, he decided to alter his path towards an education in physical therapy. Through becoming an assistant to a doctor of physical therapy, he continued to grow and obsess over human anatomy and longevity through movement practice. At this point, he had now worked for well over a year in a hands-on medical setting while teaching group fitness classes part-time. Looking for a fresh start in 2016, Kyle's passions for health and fitness were at an all-time high. He was ready and determined to take a shot at becoming a self-employed personal trainer and group fitness instructor.

Very quickly, he was able to establish himself among top trainers in NYC thanks to his educational background and work experience. Growing quickly as an trainer and instructor, he developed interests in business as well. Soon enough he was taking on a role as the Director of Business Development at the same studio where he had began teaching classes. Throughout the next year, he gained experience in new business development, local business outreach, client relations, event planning and organization, social media content creation, website design, etc. It was then that Kyle realized how true fitness professionals are successful in a highly competitive atmosphere. You can't just be a good trainer anymore, you have to be a dedicated coach AND an experienced business professional.

In 2017, Kyle stepped away from his business role to focus on personal growth and education. His growing knowledge base of training methods and passion for continued learning became the fuel for a new project. This lead to the birth of Discover Discipline, an online educational platform that allowed him to provide unlimited resources to driven athletes pursuing higher levels of health and performance. In addition to offering in-person services as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, he uses the Discover Discipline network to develop relationships with new students all over the world.

While navigating the business challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic introduced to the health and fitness industry in 2020, Kyle swiftly expanded his virtual business outside of the tristate area. Today, he teaches students in 10 different states and a small handful of locations abroad including Canada, France and Israel. Although the industry still faces its challenges, the availability of both in-person and virtual training has helped to build greater relationships, greater commitment from his clients, and ultimately better results.

His Mission: Teach thousands of motivated individuals how to solve complex movement problems with simple training solutions.
